Abstract: |
In recent years much attention has been paid to Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) biosensor because it does not require any label to respond to the presence of the molecules on the biosensor surface and as a result, a real-time response can be provided. In this study, a new biosensor based on the resonance of surface Plasmons has been proposed to improve the sensitivity of the biosensor. The proposed biosensor uses the Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) method to detect the change in refractive index. Conventional graphene based SPR biosensor consists of a thin layer of gold and a graphene sheet on it. The presented graphene based SPR biosensor consists of germanium nano-particles that are placed on two graphene layers. The characteristic of the reflection and the biosensor sensitivity is obtained. The results indicate that the addition of germanium nano-particles improves sensitivity up to 20% in comparison to conventional graphene-based SPR biosensors. |
