In this article pectin nano hydrogel was used as nanostructured filter for colored wastewater. Orange peel is a good source for extraction of pectin, so pectin was extracted from orange peel and the properties of extracted pectin was determined. In this work hydrogel nano particle based on pectin were prepared using calcium chloride. Pectin was added to water and stirred to obtain a colorless semi-transparent solution. CaCl2 aqueous solution was introduced to pectin solution dropwise under vigorous stirring. Nanostructure of this hydrogel was confirmed via scanning electron microscopy (SEM). These nano hydrogel is suitable for using in treatments of industrial wastewater or contaminated rivers. Pectin nano hydrogel is used for removing dyes from wastewater. In this work adsorption of disperse dyes from dyeing wastewater was assessed and results indicated the high adsorption capacity of this nano filter. Natural based and environmentally friendly pectin nano hydrogel with significant carboxylic group can be used as a substitute for acrylic acid polymers. A pectin-based nano hydrogel was used as a absorbent of Cu2+ and Pb2+ ions from water and wastewater , pectin based hydrogel could further be used as an efficient candidature bio sorbent for the recovery of cadmium metal ions from aqueous solutions and as water treatment purifying material and also it is used in drug delivery system. |
